Marnie Reece-Wilmore lets her voice do all the talking, writes CHRISTINE SAMS.
It's easy to see why Marnie Reece-Wilmore is floating on air. She has had the chance to visit the mystical world of Oceana in her role as Princess Neri on The New Adventures Of Ocean Girl. You won't see her face on yourtelevision screen, but she is the voice behind this enchanting, water-loving character. Super Scene dived in to ask Marnie the best things about being on the show.
What's your favourite thing about Princess Neri?
She's really nice and pure. She's strong, sweet and innocent. Her best qualities are probably honesty and integrity. Obviously I'm pretty different from her in real life, but I would hope we've got some similar qualities - especially when it comes to the integrity part.
Is it weird to see your voice matched up to a cartoon character?
I did a couple of voiceovers before I saw the cartoon character. When I saw how beautiful she was, I thought "oh, wow". I was very excited to get the part, especially when I knew it was for an animated show. I guess I'm just really lucky to be chosen for something like this.
What do your friends and family think of your role in The New Adventures Of Ocean Girl?
They're always proud of me, even when I doubt myself. I've got two nephews aged five and 10 who are my best critics even though the five-year-old doesn't understand it's my voice.
What other parts have you played besides your role in Ocean Girl?
Well, while I was taping The New Adventures Of Ocean Girl, I also performed in the play Pride And Prejudice in Melbourne and Sydney. It was funny doing an English accent for the play, then changing over to a sweeter voice for Princess Neri.
Any hints for kids interested in acting or cartoons?
Just go for it! If I can do it, anybody can.
